Showing the next generation the

future of the Trades

On Thursday, October 12th, Scott Equipment opened up its New Prague, MN facility to 3 surrounding high schools to allow students to tour and better understand the manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) is an event sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) that companies across the United States host during October to give students and the general public a greater understanding of the broad spectrum of opportunities that can be found in the manufacturing sector.

We held two sessions with approximately 130 students who came to Scott Equipment to learn about the many facets of manufacturing and how we design, machine, and fabricate custom processing equipment for our customers to be “built to last.”

The students arrived at our test lab facility and were broken into small groups to walk through 6 stations dispersed throughout our New Prague plant. We had tour guides walk them through in small groups to learn about machining, fabrication, engineering, and the inner workings of our test lab facility.

Our vendor, Mississippi Welding Supply Co. (MWSC), brought their welding simulator to the event, and students had the opportunity to try their hand at welding (virtually), with the best score being 97 out of 100. Students put their names in a drawing for two brand-new welding helmets that MWSC graciously donated. We are continually thankful for the opportunity to bring the next-generation workforce into our facility to see what Scott Equipment does daily and show them the many rewarding career opportunities in manufacturing.

We look forward to hosting MFG day again next year at our Arlington, MN facility
