Designed to hold a full mixer batch, the surge hopper lets the mixer discharge quickly and start the next batch while material flows continuously and evenly to downstream equipment.

WHAT IS AN INDUSTRIAL SURGE HOPPER?
An industrial surge hopper is a temporary bulk-material storage vessel positioned between processing equipment to regulate material flow. In a batch mixing system, the surge hopper receives a completed mixer batch, allowing the mixer to start the next cycle while the previous batch gradually discharges downstream.
This reduces mixer downtime, improves material flow, and increases overall production throughput.

HOW DOES A SURGE HOPPER IMPROVE BATCH MIXING?
A surge hopper allows the mixer and downstream equipment to operate more independently. After mixing is complete, the entire batch can be quickly discharged into the surge hopper. The mixer can then begin another batch while the surge hopper meters the previous batch to downstream processing.
Scott surge hopper systems can support batch cycles as short as 90 seconds, depending on the application and system configuration.
