Packing Hope: Supporting Soldiers Overseas Through Hero Boxes
As May marks National Military Appreciation Month, we’re reminded of the importance of honoring and supporting those who serve our country. At Scott Equipment Company, giving back has always been part of who we are, whether it’s helping customers solve tough processing challenges or supporting our military community. Recently, our team came together to pack Hero Boxes for soldiers deployed overseas.
The project started with something simple but powerful — wish lists from soldiers currently serving far from home. Each list gave us a glimpse into the little things that bring comfort during deployment: favorite snacks, hygiene products, entertainment items, and personal essentials that can make a difficult day a little easier.
Our team worked together to shop for requested items, organize supplies, and carefully pack each box with appreciation and care. In total, we prepared packages for 15 soldiers serving overseas.
One of the biggest takeaways was realizing how many simple things we take for granted — Pop-Tarts, drink packets, coloring books, and other small comforts.
These soldiers volunteer to serve our country every day. They are the real heroes, and we’re honored to show our appreciation in a small way.
More than just Supplies
To make the packages even more personal, children contributed hand-colored drawings and artwork to place inside each shipment. The colorful pictures, encouraging messages, and creative designs added a heartfelt reminder that people back home are thinking about them and grateful for their service.

The experience was a reminder that even small gestures can make a meaningful impact. A box filled with favorite snacks, personal items, drawings from children, and words of encouragement can provide a connection to home and remind soldiers that their sacrifices are appreciated.

Bringing the community Together
Projects like this also highlight the power of teamwork and community involvement. Employees across departments participated in gathering supplies, organizing donations, packing boxes, and writing notes. What started as a service project quickly became something personal for everyone involved.
Seeing the children’s artwork alongside the packed supplies served as a powerful reminder that support for our military reaches across generations.
