Serving Beyond the Workplace: Scott Equipment Travels to Appalachia to Help with Home Repair

At Scott Equipment Company, giving back has always been part of who we are. Recently, members of our team had the opportunity to step away from the shop floor to serve a family in Appalachia on a home repair mission trip focused on providing practical help and encouragement.

The trip brought together employees who were willing to use their time, skills, and hands to make a meaningful difference for a family in need. Throughout the week, the team worked on a variety of home improvement and repair projects designed to create a safer, more comfortable living environment.

From repairing damaged areas of the home to completing much-needed maintenance projects, every task was approached with teamwork, compassion, and a willingness to serve. While the work itself was important, the relationships built during the trip left an even greater impact.

The experience served as a reminder that small acts of service can make a big difference. Whether it was sharing meals, listening to stories, or simply spending time together, the trip created lasting memories for both the family and the Scott Equipment team members who participated.

From Home Repairs to Human Connection: Thoughts and Reflections from the Team

“Teamwork makes the dream work! Great to meld with co-workers and have a common purpose.”

“It was great to know how much you’re impacted the lives of the families living in these homes.”

“Before this trip, I knew that there were a lot of people in need in the United States. But it’s tough to really comprehend just how
much when you’re not exposed to it directly and regularly. This trip opened my eyes to the need, and seeing the children in this
family kind of broke my heart, but also gave me hope.”

Building Stronger Communities Through Service

Work like this impacts communities in ways that go far beyond the repairs themselves. It helps provide safer, more comfortable living conditions for families while offering encouragement and support during difficult times. Projects like these remind people they are not alone and that others care about their well-being.

These efforts also help strengthen communities by bringing people together through service, compassion, and teamwork. In many cases, the relationships built and encouragement shared leave just as much of an impact as the physical repairs completed.

Looking Ahead

Our time serving in Appalachia was a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact. From repairing homes to building relationships with families and communities, the experience challenged and inspired our team in meaningful ways. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside an organization dedicated to bringing hope, support, and compassion to families across Appalachia.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to finding ways to give back and support communities in need. To learn more about the mission of Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) and how you can get involved, visit their website today.
