Machinst
The machinist is responsible for safely operating and maintaining the lathe and milling machine(s).
Primary Responsibilities
- On assigned job orders, the machinist is responsible for reviewing drawings, clarifying procedures, ensuring materials are available, setting up machines, and understanding the project scope and deadlines
- Have the ability to run a mill or lathe
- Within the machine function (milling, boring, welding, lathe work, grinding, and polishing), understand the specifications of each job and uses a variety of machines and tools to produce high-quality work
- Can accurately drill holes
- Uses tapping attachments to produce high-quality threads
- Utilizes appropriate saw for cutting and uses appropriate blades and speeds
- Ensures a safe work environment by following safety requirements and policies
- Perform routine visual machine inspections and report damages to maintenance for repair
- Properly and safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts while maneuvering materials as needed
- Performs other responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short & simple correspondence, and memos
- Competent and engaging in conversing on the phone
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand mechanical drawings
- The employee is required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Other duties include climbing ladders, flexibility/ability to work in areas that are difficult to access, doing repetitious movements, and working 30 feet up in the air

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test & physical
