What is A CONTINUOUS MIXER?
An industrial continuous mixer continuously receives ingredients, blends or conditions them as they move through the mixing chamber, and discharges the finished material without stopping between batches.
Continuous mixing suits high-volume production where materials can be fed at controlled rates and consistent processing is required over an extended production run. Depending on the mixer design, continuous systems can blend powders, incorporate liquids, coat particles, condition materials, deagglomerate powders, or process wet and dry ingredients.
why USE continuous mixing

CONTINUOUS MATERIAL FLOW
Material enters, mixes, and discharges without separated batch cycles.

CONSISTENT PROCESSING
Controlled feeding and mixing help maintain consistent results throughout production.
HIGH THROUGHPUT
Continuous operation supports applications requiring steady production rates.
LIQUID ADDITION
Depending on the mixer, liquids can be incorporated for coating, conditioning, agglomeration, or formulation.
PROCESS INTEGRATION
Continuous mixers can be integrated with feeding, conveying, drying, screening, and packaging equipment.
FIND THE RIGHT CONTINUOUS MIXER
Tender Blend
The Tender Blend uses controlled paddle agitation to continuously blend, coat, and condition free-flowing materials while helping minimize product breakage and degradation. Variable speed and adjustable retention time provide additional process control.
BEST FOR:
Pellets • Animal Feed • Pet Food • Fertilizer • Plastics • Food Ingredients
Pugmill
The Pugmill is designed for demanding wet, dry, abrasive, sticky, and high-viscosity materials. Heavy-duty paddles provide intensive mixing while moving material continuously from inlet to discharge.
BEST FOR:
Sludge • Fertilizer • Compost • Soil Stabilization • Industrial Waste
HST Blender
The Scott HST High-Speed Blender provides rapid, high-intensity blending with short retention times. It can continuously combine up to five materials in powder-to-powder, powder-to-liquid and liquid-to-liquid applications.
BEST FOR:
Powders • Liquid Incorporation • Coating • Deagglomeration • Conditioning
SLURRY BLENDER
The Scott Slurry Blender continuously combines dry materials with liquids to create a consistent, uniform slurry. Its high-intensity mixing action incorporates ingredients quickly while helping maintain continuous product flow.
BEST FOR:
Slurries • Powder-to-Liquid mixing • Liquid Incorporation • Suspensions • Process Conditioning

CONTINUOUS MIXER FAQs
What is a continuous mixer?
A continuous mixer receives ingredients, mixes or conditions them while they move through the mixing chamber, and continuously discharges the processed material.
What is the difference between continuous and batch mixing?
Continuous mixing processes material while it continuously enters and exits the mixer. Batch mixing processes a measured quantity during an individual mixing cycle.
What materials can continuous mixers process?
Depending on the mixer design, continuous mixers can process powders, granules, pellets, liquids, slurries, pastes, sludge, and other bulk materials. Scott’s current continuous equipment handles everything from gentle, free-flowing materials to abrasive, sticky, high-viscosity products.
Can a continuous mixer add liquids to dry materials?
Yes. Applicable Scott continuous mixers can incorporate liquids for coating, conditioning, agglomeration, and other processing requirements.
Which continuous mixer is best for fragile materials?
The Tender Blend is designed for gentle, continuous mixing and coating while minimizing product breakage and degradation.
Which continuous mixer is designed for sludge or sticky materials?
Scott’s Pugmill Continuous Mixer is designed for demanding materials, including sludge, pastes, wet or dry materials, and high-viscosity products.
